Belgrade - The renowned culinary website “Taste Atlas” has released its list of the 100 most delicious cuisines in the world for this year. Serbian cuisine has claimed an impressive 12th place, with an average rating of 4.45, marking a three-position jump from last year when it was ranked 15th. On the list of the 100 best dishes in the world for 2025/2026, Užička komplet lepinja secured 8th place as a traditional breakfast dish, with a rating of 4.7. Other Serbian dishes recommended include Pazarske mantije (4.7), Leskovački homemade ajvar (4.7), Petrovački kulen (4.7), and Ariljska malina (4.7).

The website adds that the name komplet lepinja can be loosely translated as “lepinja with everything”, and the dish is traditionally associated with Užice and Zlatibor. It’s believed to date back to the period before World War II. The dish consists of traditional flatbread (lepinja) that is sliced in half, spread with kajmak, and then topped with an egg. The lepinja is briefly baked and is generously soaked with a mixture of warm meat drippings, locally known as pretop – according to the description on the “Taste Atlas” website. Though rich in calories and highly nutritious, this dish is commonly eaten for breakfast and pairs best with a glass of yogurt or sour milk. For the most authentic experience, it is recommended to eat it by hand.

This year, Italian cuisine ranked first, Greek cuisine came in second, and Peruvian cuisine secured third place. The ranking was made based on 590,228 valid ratings for 16,357 dishes in the “Taste Atlas” database.
