Sydney - His Holiness, Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci, and Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will visit the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand from October 8 to 19, 2026, accompanied by hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand announced.
- This blessed arrival of His Holiness is a great gift and joy for all of us who live far from our Homeland, but who carry in our hearts our Orthodox faith, and the prayerful tradition of our holy ancestors. We invite all the faithful people of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand to gather in prayer and in unity around our Patriarch, so that, as children of Saint Sava, we may show our love, unity, and faithfulness to the Holy Church. Let us greet His Holiness, our Patriarch, with love and joy, with the words: "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" That we may all live in harmony - Saint Sava, help!, announced the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand.
The visit of His Holiness begins in Melbourne on October 8 with a solemn doxology at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Brunswick. Then, on October 10, he will celebrate the Holy Patriarchal Liturgy at the Saint Sava Monastery in Elaine, and on Sunday, October 11, he will consecrate the church of Saint Stephen the Archdeacon in Keysborough. He arrives in Canberra on Wednesday, October 14, on the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, where he will celebrate the Liturgy at the New Kalenić Saint Sava Monastery. He will stay in Sydney from October 14 to 18. On Wednesday, a doxology will be held at the church of Saint George the Great Martyr in Cabramatta, and on Thursday, October 15, a gala banquet in honor of His Holiness will be held at the Saint Archdeacon Stefan Church Parish in Rooty Hill. On Saturday, October 17, His Holiness will consecrate the Chapel of the Holy Nativity of Christ at Saint Sava College in Varroville, and on Sunday, after the Holy Patriarchal Liturgy, he will lay the foundation stone at the College.
