Wollongong - The city of Wollongong played host to the World Triathlon and Paratriathlon Championships from 15 to 19 October 2025. Among the competitors was the Serbian national paratriathlon team.

Team Serbia brought home a bronze medal in the paratriathlon. In the Men’s PTVI category, Lazar Filipović and Strahinja Trakić finished third in the combined disciplines of swimming, tandem cycling, and running. Head coach of the Serbian team, Marko Pavlović, described the result as a huge success for Serbian paratriathlon: - “The competition was incredibly tough. Lazar and Strahinja finished with a total time of 59 minutes and 45 seconds. We were leading for the first 80 per cent of the race, but the French and British teams overtook us around two kilometres before the finish line during the run. We’re celebrating bronze today, but from tomorrow we begin preparing to bring gold home to Serbia next year,” said Pavlović.

The Serbian Orthodox Parish of Saint John the Baptist in Wollongong welcomed the athletes on 18 October during celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of the parish. They were also honoured at a formal luncheon held at the church hall on Sunday, 19 October. Winning the bronze medal is a remarkable achievement for our paratriathletes, who demonstrated incredible strength and team spirit, bringing home yet another medal for Serbia.
