Belgrade – Radio Belgrade, the oldest radio station in the Balkans, celebrated its 100th anniversary on October 1, 2024, with a ceremonial academy titled "From Century to Century." It first broadcast on October 1, 1924, through the facilities of a radio telegraph station in Rakovica. On the same day that Radio Belgrade began operations, Radio Vienna also made its debut. Radio Paris started operating six months earlier.
Over the years, Radio Belgrade expanded, with regular broadcasting of Radio Belgrade 2 beginning in 1958, Radio Belgrade 3 in 1965, and Radio Belgrade 202 starting in 1969. Since 2019, Radio Belgrade has also had its thematic channels, such as RTS Vrteška, RTS Džuboks, RTS Pletenica, RTS Rokenroler and RTS Džezer.
Today, Radio Belgrade is a respected media house fulfilling its role within the Public Media Institution Radio-Television of Serbia, nurturing language and speech culture. From its founding to today, Radio Belgrade has become a temple of culture, information, good music, and beautiful speech.
